SpaceX Stock After Its IPO: What SPCX's First Weeks Show
October 30, 2026 | Anthropic Stock News
SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 a share on June 11, 2026. The SpaceX IPO first day was June 12: the stock opened on Nasdaq as SPCX at $150.00 and closed at $160.95. It reached a record close of $201.80 three sessions in. By July 15 it had briefly fallen below the IPO price and closed at $135.27. Those five weeks are the closest recent comparison for the Anthropic listing.
When did SpaceX go public, and at what price?
SpaceX priced 555,555,555 shares at $135 late on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The shares listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, with a second listing on Nasdaq Texas, under the ticker SPCX. Trading began on Friday, June 12. At $135 a share, the base offering raised about $75 billion, the largest IPO on record at the time.
How did SPCX trade on the SpaceX IPO first day?
The first trade came at $150.00 at about 11:46 a.m. Eastern time, 11.1% above the offer price. The stock closed at $160.95, up 19.2% on the day. Reuters reported that the close valued SpaceX at $2.1 trillion.
So two investors paid different prices for the same stock that day: $135 at allocation, $150.00 at the open. Our article on the IPO share price versus the first trade shows how often that happens.
What happened in the weeks after the listing?
The rally kept going for two more sessions, then reversed. SPCX rose about 20% on June 15 and set its record close of $201.80 on June 16. After three sessions it was 49% above the IPO price. From there the stock drifted lower through late June and early July. On July 14 it closed at $136.08, which Bloomberg described as a fall of about one third from its post-listing peak. On July 15 it traded below $135 for the first time and closed at $135.27.

The chart shows the round trip in five steps. The stock rose about $67 above its IPO price in three sessions. Five weeks later it was back within 27 cents of it.
How fast did SPCX enter the Nasdaq-100?
Within four weeks of its first trade. Nasdaq's fast entry rule has been in effect since May 1, 2026. It lets a new listing join the index after about 15 trading days. The condition is that its full market value ranks within the top 40 members on its seventh trading day. Nasdaq announced SpaceX's addition on June 26 and the stock joined the index before the open on July 7. J.P. Morgan estimated the inclusion would bring about $4.3 billion of passive buying, according to Reuters. Our article on whether Anthropic could join the Nasdaq-100 explains the rule in full.
What does SPCX tell Anthropic investors?
Mostly how the mechanics work. It doesn't say where ANT could trade. Both companies chose the Nasdaq Global Select Market, and both are large enough to be tested under the fast entry rule. Bloomberg reported in August that Anthropic expects its IPO to match or beat the size of SpaceX's. In five weeks SPCX rose fast, joined the index, and came back to its offer price.
The difference between the first three sessions and the following month is what counts. Five weeks after the record close, the stock was back at $135.27. That's one listing in one market, and it says nothing certain about ANT. For where SpaceX trades now, see our SpaceX stock research.
